I just needed to say this, regarding the rising tide of fascism and the confederate statues.

I just needed to get this off my chest and out there. I didn't know where on reddit to post it, but I thought maybe it would be appropriate in this subreddit and that you all would at least be sympathetic. So, here goes:

To all of the people who are advocating for the keeping of the confederate statues and saying that the confederate flag is about southern pride or, most infuriating, a Christian symbol, I have one simple thing to say. You are wrong. There is a right side, and a wrong side, and you are on the wrong side. Period. Wrong, wrong, wrong, and ignorant for continuing to believe you're right. The things you are supporting are hateful, venomous, and evil, and you are displaying willful blindness as to why those symbols are so contentious, if not straight up revealing that you're a bunch of white supremacist Nazis. You are betraying everything that this country is said to stand for. I'll expand on a couple of points:

1. Argument 1: "The confederate states have a right to their history." No, they don't. Period, end of statement. They lost. They committed treason, and they lost completely. They lost their right to "honor" that history. I guess it turns out that the Union should have executed all of their leaders after all, took all of the southern supporters property away, and made it forever a treasonous offense to fly or display any confederate propaganda for all time, instead of letting them live out their lives in peace, just so that they can plant those seeds of hatred in all of their descendants. I'll have to keep that in mind for next time. Do you think Germany has a bunch of statues of Hitler up? Or they display the Nazi flag because it represents "German Culture" or "German National Pride?" No, because that'd be ridiculous right? And don't tell me it's different. The south was fighting for the continued right to own people, as chattel, and treat them however they damn well wanted. That's like arguing that the guy that raped a woman, is better than the guy that murdered a woman. They are both evil as hell, neither is a side you should be on.

2. Argument 2: "The confederate flag represents southern pride and or Christian values." No, again, it doesn't. It represents Treason, and venomous racism. Period. If you argue anything else, you are being purposefully obtuse, pretending to not understand why minorities are offended by that symbolism. It's evil. It's wrong. It's the opposite of Christianity, stop calling it a Christian symbol, and advocating for it and calling yourself a Christian, because neither thing is true, no one believes you, you're just making yourself look bad. And as far as southern pride, what pride are we talking about exactly? The pride that came from committing treason and then getting your ass handed to you? Awesome. Or was it the pride that came from starting a war so that you could continue to OWN HUMAN BEINGS? Or maybe the pride from continuing to treat minorities as less than human for a hundred years after the war, until Federal legislation and Federal troops forced you to stop? And you still try! Oh wait, I remember, it must be all that pride you have from being the most illiterate, poorest section of the United States. Good job bros.

As a friend of mine said yesterday, you'd think that when you found yourself supporting the side WITH NAZIS ON IT, you'd take a step back and really think about the life decisions that led you there.

Continuing to advocate for that side makes you nothing more than a supporter of fascism, hatred, and evil. If you are still supporting those people, or this administration, blindly, than at this point as far as I am concerned you are a traitor and an enemy of the state.
