How to best align columns

I have a large number of excel reports. They're a bit too large for excel when combined, and thought I'd go to access . The issue is, the report generators kept shifting columns around a tiny amount - enough to cause huge headaches. Is there an easy way in access when importing to say "look at the headers and align them when importing"?
