Knowing when to quit (or not)

If I where to look at my entire situation logically; I should probably quit OKCupid and online dating as whole and either come back later or just resign myself to being alone forever.

Even if I disregard all my insecurities, phobias, and other psychological issues, I am pretty much undateble at my current station in life

making about 20k a year

live at home

no friends since high school so poor social skill

never been in a relationship before, not even a date

frequent online message boards such as Reddit and 4chan

So yeah, give all that it would make sense to quit and come back to it once I've improved myself. But for whatever reason I can't seem to do it (or at the least think about it less). It's almost like some kind of addiction; any time I get any sort of acknowledgment is like a hit from the proverbial crack pipe of attention and validation.

The other thing is that I want to be able to get over my fear of just interacting with woman, at least online. I seem to be incapable of ever messaging anyone for both fear of success AND failure so it would probably be good for me to overcome it. So far, though, I am still too scared. But I would like to get over it somehow.

edit: also since I am in my 30's already and I see everyone around me getting married or having kids I feel that pressure to do the same and worry that If I wait anymore I am just going to end up alone

tl;dr how do I quit online dating? Should I quit? Am I being an baka?
