[Request] Give to Teachers through an Unofficial Reddit Teacher Exchange

Hello all,

I don't believe this post would be breaking any rules but if it does, please feel free to let me know.

In short: I'd like to ask the r/Need community if you all would be willing to assist in an Unofficial Reddit Teacher Exchange through any of the following ways:

  • Subscribing to the sub r/TeacherExchange and letting others know of this effort.
  • Applying to be a donor of school supplies and other needed items to educators in the US
  • Simply reading this request.

Long Version: Some of you may know that redditgifts is no longer doing the Teacher Exchange due to some complications with the inner workings of the program. They tried switching to DonorsChoose in 2016 but that ended up being not-so-successful and for the year of 2017, they have decided to no longer continue the program.

I'd like to try my best to help organize something that would help fill that void for our educators. Many teachers around the United States are underpaid and underequipped and I thought it would be awesome if the Reddit community could continue offering their support.

I've always believed a morally (and financially) supported teacher can be incredibly more successful than a teacher who may be feeling burnt out and I've personally seen how excited a teacher gets just from a few supplies (my fiance is a middle school teacher!).

I write this post to ask for all of your kindness and assistance in hopefully getting this smaller scale version of the program off the floor at r/TeacherExchange.

I will be honest, this program will not be perfect and not as large as the old program but I'd like to try something.

Thank you in advance for reading. I appreciate your time!

Thank you u/ultradip for allowing me to post this here!
