Absentee Ownership?

What're your views on absentee ownership? Is believing that it's immoral necessarily falling to the left?

Personally I would argue that land itself can not be owned, as humanity in general owns the earth, but we can possess land and use it and have exclusive rights to it. But I would also say that once you abandon a property or try to expand your claim so far you can not properly possess it (i.e. claiming all of North America for myself or something) that you no longer own what you're not possessing and using.

Am I an accidental leftist??
