Blind spots - comparable models to test drive?

I've pretty much settled on a 2017 Volt for my next vehicle, but have a dilemma in that local dealerships don't have any in stock, so getting a test drive before ordering is going to be a hassle.

I've done enough research and driven enough Chevy's that my only real concern is the blind spots that I see brought up a lot. Is there a different model that's comparable (or worse) in regards to blind spots? Like if I'm comfortable with the Cruze's blind spots, should the Volt's be fine? Or - (best case) are the blind spots not that bad but just get brought up because they're one of the few flaws?
