Rank the performance divisions of the manufacturers by engineering capability
Not the motorsport divisions, but the in-house divisions responsible for reengineering normal street cars for performance. So for example, Toyota Racing Development counts, but not Toyota Gazoo Racing, since Gazoo is their actual racing division, while TRD, despite its name, isn't really involved in racing but does produce tunes, mods, and trims for Toyota's street cars and trucks.
The quintessential examples are BMW M and Mercedes-AMG.
How would you rank these groups compared to one another in terms of engineering ability? Not necessarily the absolute performance of the final products (because there's only so much performance one can squeeze out of a Focus or Toyota 86), but the actual engineering prowess of the divisions themselves.
Examples:
- BMW M (BMW)
- Mercedes-AMG (Mercedes Benz)
- Audi Sport (Audi)
- Special Vehicle Team (Ford)
- TeamRS (Ford)
- Toyota Racing Development (Toyota)
- Street and Racing Technology (FCA)
- Special Vehicle Operations (Jaguar)
- NISMO (Nissan)
- Honda Performance Development (Honda)
Etc., etc.
This is not a comprehensive list, so if you think of any I haven't listed, go ahead and rank them, too.
