Tomorrow I'm taking my dog camping with me for the first time. Is it safe to let him drink lake and river water?

He's a one year old miniature poodle who LOVES water and all things rough-and-tumble. I give him a monthly parasiticide + parasite prevention medication. We're going to Vedauwoo in Wyoming. Do I need to take extra water to the camp site for him or would he be safe to drink from the rivers and lakes, and have a refilled bottle of river water?
