Callback number setting reverts itself back to including it.

I've had to dig into the settings to remove the callback number from outbound texts several times. The setting lasts anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Why does it keep resetting itself? How can I make it stop? And why are callback numbers included in text messages? Doesn't every text tell you what number it's from? Who decided that it was a good idea to add obnoxious, redundant information to every text?
