Fashion Focused: a primer on the Trial of Style

I see you, wearing your outfit, struttin' around the streets like it's nobody's business. But what if you could show your mog to people and get rewarded for it? What if you want to look better than others?

Enter the Trial of Style, an event only available this week, in which you go toe-to-toe with 5 other contestants in order to become Azeroth's Next Top Model (figuratively).

There's been a bunch of questions, so I figured I'd make a quick compilation of things you want and need to know.

You can join by talking to any Transmogrifier.

Dalaran, your garrison, you name it: talk and start strutting on stage.

The contest is sorted in different styles.

For example, one round you need to dress "Primal Style", another one "Dark and Dreary", or even "Everyday Hero". Stick to the theme and odds are people will vote for you.

People vote on whatever they want to.

Just like in Cards Against Humanity, people aren't obligated to vote on you just because you were the only one who made a fitting match: do not get discouraged.

You can equip tabards and shirts.

Not using them is a waste, considering they're free slots you can use in order to give your outfit that extra oomph.

Toys are functional to some degree.

Not all toys work, such as full transformations: smaller things, like an Honorable Pennant or Pepe do work.

You can use any rarity gear.

Ever felt like using those gaudy, white-quality dresses from the Dalaran clothes store? Your Deadeye Monocle you got from Hemet? Say no more.

You do not have to use every slot.

Sometimes, less is more: I won the "Primal Style" round with my Worgen by wearing.... nothing. I went in butt naked and won.

Your class can use weapons aside from your Artifacts.

There's no need to use your Artifact if you think your Shaman would absolutely rock this round if he was using fist weapons: experiment!

You can still talk and emote.

You're not forced to use the emotes on the Stage Action Bar: you can still emote however you want to. In fact, this might even help you enforce the theme: /threaten with Dark and Dreary, /roar with Primal Style, /charge with Ready for Battle, you name it!

Transmogging and cutting your hair is free.

If you're too stingy to join because of your budget, no worries: transmog and hair jobs are free as long as the event lasts.

Everybody competing gets a reward currency.

Placing 3rd, 2nd or 1st gets you more, but everybody involved gets a reward currency.

TBC dungeon Armor ensembles and a special shirt can be bought from the reward currency.

The armor ensembles aren't new, the shirt has a special buff akin to Beauty's Precious Ribbon; all cosmetic.

Enjoy yourselves.

Always remember to have fun!
