Sony release pattern??

I'm wondering how soon after Sony announces their new phones, are they available in the US? Specifically, if they announce the XZ1 on Aug. 30, does their history dictate how long before they are actually available? I've never owned a Sony phone before and have never followed their releases...Thanks.
