HELP

So let me start of by saying that I've spend a whole day trying to wrap my head around Heidegger's philosophy. I'm not ashamed to admit that I don't understand a single thing that I've read. So I hope someone can help me out here! What I understand (or what I think he says) is that Heidegger represents a more practical approach to phenomenology. He wants to now,how and what the essence of things are, as they are in the world. He criticizes earlier philosophy because they didn't differentiate between two ontological spheres, Being and Beings. The Dasein is us, humans, ontic and ontological, we care about our own being. Now I think, Heidegger tries to understand why it is we forgot about that distinction, why everything was reduced to just beings and not Sein. He first tries to understand Being by means of beings, but later he realized that that was a dangerous approach, trap of subjectivity. So he tries a different route, I think that this route is by means of the world? He sees that beings configurate, and set in motion some kind of proces. Beings Seyn. Ereignis is the event, it's this inclination beings have to form structures and configurate. This structure gives the world some kind of permanency. There are different ways this can happen, and throughout history there were different kinds of 'epochs', I think he calls it. Heidegger notes that current technology closes a temporal and spatial gap. Yet things aren't closer or further to us. To get to this proximity we need to understand the things as things, not as we immediateley perceive it, not in it's form, not as a thing created by means of a 'blueprint'. He uses the Krug as an example (I think, is it just an example? Or does he generalizes that what he finds in the Krug?). The essence of the krug is it's emptiness, emtiness takes and holds. The fact that we can pour something in or out of it, that we can spill something out of it also is it's essence, he calls it the gift of the Guss. We fill it with water and wine, and so he argues, we find a fourfold unity in it. First water contains Heaven and Earth, they are the source of water. We can use water to quench our thirst or we can to something more with it, 'sacrifice' it, so besides Heaven and Earth, the Krug's essence also contains Mortality and Divinity. So the gift of Guss has fourfold unity. I have no idea what those four have to do with anything. So we cannot think of one without thinking of the other three. He talks about a mirror-play in the world, a dance of the ereignis (wtf)? Gering (wth)? Science destroys the thing as a thing (kill me too)? So we need to get in proximity with the things, otherwise the thing gets destroyed. How do we get there? By taking a step back, not think in a way that you explain things, you need to think as Andenken. I don't know what that means, maybe it's just listening to the world or something? Enter the Ge-Stell (now it's dark). What I (think I) get of this is that we try to understand everything by placing ourselves on the opposite end of utilities (Gegenstand). We objectify everthing so it becomes understandeable. We are greedy or something like that (he is obviously talking about Jews here). By doing this, everything becomes without distance. The Abstandlose reigns in the Bestand. Here I'm completely lost, he says this Bestand manifests itself in Bestel. Bestel is to claim, it has an apriori character because it's always present or something like that? I don't understand. It forms a chain in which things keep claiming eachother, including us. Everthing that presents itself or that is bestellbar. It tries to claim everything, this collection is called the Ge-Stell. And this chain (in which every other thing is claimed by another and so on) is the essence of modern technology. How I understand this, is that in our modern world, things are taken out of their original context and put in the Ge-stell. Like a river is not a river, but it's something that can produce energy. This whole distinction between, Bestell and Herstell and so on isn't clear to me. In fact nothing is clear to me. But it's not over. Everything in this machine of the Ge-Stell is replaceable, we and all things are tiny parts in a big machine. I think the Ge-Stell can manifest itself in different ways? Next he tries to understand the relation between nature and technology. But in the world of technology nature is explained in terms of causality. Ge-Stell is the danger, stands in the way of proximity. All that is present gets reduced by the Ge-Stell as a part of it's machine. We can't think the world as world, outside of the Ge-Stell, so it seems. Then he talks about that fourfold and mirror play again, the Vierung, and I'm lost again. Now I'm reading about Aletheia, he says that the world contains the essence of being. But we can't see the world, it's concealed. But because it's concealed it discloses beings??!? Because she is concealed it strands in Vergesselheit. Two types of vergesselheit, one of the world and one of being. So being comes out of aletheia but it stays concealed, so we can't grasp it. The world as that what contais the being (Wahrnis of being) retreats. What we can grasp of being, is a sign (Wink), the Geschick of seins. They come fort in Epochs in history of Sein. The result of those epochs are planetary totality put fort by this Seinsvergesselheit. This is were my journey ended. And I'm baffled, I don't know what to make of this, I think I got it all wrong. How do you understand or make at least a bit sense out of all of this? What's Heidegger on about, how do fourfold, ge-stell, Sein, Ereignis, etc all fit together? Can someone shed some light on this for me?
