Practical hybrid or adventurous truck

So my old '98 Honda Accord finally kicked the bucket. I'm looking to get either a hybrid or a mid size truck. What do you guys recommend? Can anyone tell me about the batteries of hybrids and which are good and what a good deal on one would be? Like what year and ideal mileage etc. it would be greatly appreciated! :)
