03 Jeep Liberty Sport Power Steering Pump Component Orentation?

Hello folks.

2003 Liberty Sport 3.7L AT

My neighbor is is replacing a pressure line. This part fell out of the pump, held by the PS line fitting.

It seems to have a screen where the hex nut appears. So one side is striped and concave while the other side has what looks like a hex nut.

Do I put the concave side into the pump, or the hex nut side?
