People lying or not?

Hey guys. So I was wondering, have you ever heard of someone who had a great mcat like 95th percentile+ and didn't get into an MD school (or at least get an interview)? I have two friends who claim they got a 516 but neither of them got any interviews last cycle. This freaks me out.

Do you think they are lying? Have you heard of people with high stats not being successful?
