Just started my first job, would love some advice!
Hey guys
I just started my new job yesterday. It's in really nice family restaurant/bar. During the morning I'm serving cakes, coffee each. Afternoon it's bar food and drinks. Then evening it's bartending and more bar food.
My first shift on the coffees and cakes was OK once I learnt the ropes a bit, but I haven't been put on the till yet luckily.
But I did my first bartending shift yesterday, which was shadowing something but else doing some things myself and I felt so clueless. I couldn't remember anything, and to make it worse the beer tap signs are only on the customers side. So I was really lost. I didn't know what wines were what either.
I feel pretty crap tbh and feel so dumb. Is it normal to feel like this on your first shift? If not - I don't think I'm gonna be smart enough to do this :( Is there anything I can at home to practise in between shifts?
Any advice would be great!
