Need some advice from data scientists

Hello reddit ! Two days ago I finished Datacamp course: Intro to Python for Data Science. right after that I received mail from datacamp about a challenge to beat lung cancer using machine learning and big data. I got so excited that I'm really considering to contribute, but I suck at math and this is the only course I have completed about data science. I have to mention a bit of my background. I'm a system administrator and know basics of python and also little bit of bash for small task automation etc. So what chances do I have? I'm not trying to win any prize or anything like this, even if only 2 lines of code gets committed that would be enough for me. It might even be other project not related to this one. all that matters for me right now is that it should save lives or at least make someones life better. I have around 2.5 hours of spare time every day. what are my chances and how long might it take to get there if I'm committed ? I'd love to hear some advises from experienced data scientist, what steps should I take from now on and also some materials would be nice! Here is the project URL : https://concepttoclinic.drivendata.org/

P.s I also posted same in r/learnprogramming/ but I think I might get better insights here.
