Character Keeps Stopping

Hey guys, new to Hollow Knight, in the second area of the game, but as I've been playing my character keeps stopping. It's like my controller is losing connection or something. I'm using a PS4 controller with the wireless USB dongle, except it has never caused me any issues on Dark Souls at all. I tried switching from windowed to fullscreen, and then tried to move the dongle closer to me. Tried googling the issue but haven't found anything with my similar issue.
