Do families all share the same deodorant or does everyone have their own?

In my family, everyone has their own. But I was having a conversation with my girlfriend, my best friend, and my best friend's girlfriend. My best friend said something to his girlfriend about how he was pissed that his mom stole the deodorant so he couldn't use it that morning. His girlfriend looked at him and was like, "are you sure your mom took it? Last time your little brother took the deodorant. I couldn't find it in your moms room." My girlfriend and I started laughing hysterically because we didn't understand why there was a communal deodorant in their house. And they looked at us like "yeah? We are always trying to steal the deodorant from each other. Sometimes there are two in the house, but we still all take turns taking it and using it. Sometimes we hide it from each other so we can hold onto it before someone finds it." My girlfriend and I continued laughing because we could not wrap our heads around the fact that a family of like 5 people would all use the same deodorant. Like why doesn't everyone just have their own? That's how my experience has always been. Same with my girlfriend. I can't even begin to imagine using my moms deodorant or her using mine. If I didn't have any, I would buy some more. Maybe if I was in a super rush and I forgot mine elsewhere or ran out unexpectedly, I might use my step dads or my girlfriends. But I would go out of my way to buy some more deodorant on my way home. I definitely wouldn't want that to be a regular thing. And it's not like either of my friends are financially struggling. They both make good money and are financially responsible. They have both just have been raised to have communal deodorants in their household. Is that unique? Maybe my girlfriend and I are the weird ones for having not experienced this? I felt like this sub was appropriate for this question.
