Life on hard mode?

Shameless gloating ahead, get your downvotes ready.

Cast your mind back to July 8th 2017, two days before I'd tied up all loose ends in England and packed my life into two suitcases ready to start a new life in Boston with no job, nowhere permanent to live and no contacts. I thought I would make a post to r/boston for some last-minute encouragement, some confirmation that I wasn't making the biggest mistake of my life. I was met with a level of negativity the likes of which I'd never seen before on this sub! (which is saying something right?) - 'moving to a top 3 expensive city - do you like life on hard mode!', one guy was vehement that I should learn how to pull pints! (nothing wrong with that but after a 12-year finance background it seemed like an odd career move).

There was some encouragement too, which I'm not going to disregard, but as mentioned I'm here to gloat.

So 36 days in, I've accepted a senior finance role at a large household name brand firm, (genuine progression from my job in England) and I've signed a lease to move into a nice condo in Medford. I'm happy and I'm smug, it wasn't even that hard..... I'm going to fit in here just fine right?
