Attila generals gaining negative traits always

I don't understand why my full stack generals I'm using almost every turn to conquer some region or fight some other army keep getting negative traits (lazy, stupid, boring, irresolute, gambling, arrogant, ugly). Far more than positive ones, too.

It's also pretty common that my agents get them too. I keep priests always increasing religion in whatever area is low on influence. My spies are always trying to extort or assassinate someone. My champions are always training a stack.
