My ex texted me to tell me her boyfriend broke up with her. We went drinking. I told her a I love her. She did not react very well to that. What should I do now?

So we broke up about a year ago.

She wanted to get back with me but I was not ready to commit at that time. I had some foolish idea about getting trapped. Essentially I was an idiot with a fear of commitment.

Slowly I came to regret this decision and wanted to get back with her. She got with someone else so I did not tell her that.

However, we did have some contact here and there. It was mostly inconsequential stuff. She asked me did I have the spare keys to her flat. I asked her did she want to buy a spare ticket I had for a gig (for herself, not to come with me). That kind of thing.

Last Friday night she texted to say her boyfriend had broken up with her. The next day we went for lunch. It was nice. That night we went to the pub. It was all going very well until I got a bit drunk.

Then I told her I loved her. We didn't have a fight at that point but things got a bit emotional and she left (half stormed off) to get a cab. I walked her to the cab.

I texted to apologise the next day but she was pretty stand offish.

I have not contacted her since then. And she has not contacted me.

I want to get back with her. I am also worried about her after her break up.

What should I do?
