Where do I go from here?

Hi r/amaterradio! I've had my Technician for a little less than a year now, and I've been going outside to talk through a local repeater with my Yaesu HT (FT-60) every once and a while, but It hasn't really been particularly interesting. I've wanted to do some more interesting things, (maybe home-brew a tape-measure antenna to work the FM birds?) but the technobabble on guide sites is really intimidating, although I am willing to learn. My gear right now is basically just my Yaesu, a speaker-mike, and a Diamond brand antenna which I got from my local HRO. So, I am here wondering what to do now. Where do I go from here?
