Question about yesterday's show.
On yesterday's show Ben criticized Obama's stance on BLM. He said that Obama supporters said Obama's response to BLM violence was good because he denounced the violence. Ben said that wasn't good enough because Obama should have denounced BLM's underlying purpose (or maybe he said goal or stance, but you get my point).
Isn't BLM's underlying purpose to reduce the number of black people killed by the cops?
I totally agree that BLM's methods are objectionable, but the underlying purpose seems pretty reasonable.
One could argue that the group is flawed because of the violence, the tendency to be anti-cop, the calls to burn down white neighborhoods, etc. But those things were denounced by Obama. One could argue that the underlying purpose is somewhat misinformed (Ben likes to bring up that study that showed blacks and whites in the same situations get shot equally frequently by cops). But that doesn't make the cause -- reducing black deaths -- morally wrong, just sort of factually misinformed.
What underlying purpose of BLM needs to be denounced?
