Karabiner Elements + shift key q

Hey all - using Karabiner Elements to disable my left shift key, due to minor damage that caused it to read as "pressed" 24/7. However with Karabiner enabled I'm still getting some shift indicators (slow minimizing, opening links in new windows, mass-select in Finder) despite the standard indicators (caps lock, inability to scroll with arrow keys) being repaired. Any idea why this is/how to fix?
