Acer E15 or Asus F550VQ?

I am currently looking for new notebook after seven years and I found Acer E15 (E5-575G-57YH). But I did some digging and found mentions here on reddit, that people came to hate Acer, horrible quality control etc.

Can someone please elaborate?

As an alternative I found Asus ASUS F550VQ-DM008T. It seems almost same but it lacks ssd drive (I never had one in laptop, but everyone praises it. Really that important?) Also I could not find on google any mention if i can add more ram later (can with that acer)

My old laptop was Asus so I am very nostalgic for them, but Acer seems bit better on paper. I am using laptop for a little bit of everything and these two seems to be finalists.
