Help me translate a lyric!

So, I'm working on a song and I want to say, more or less, "The wounded heart of man (as in the race of man, humanity) seeks to heal the wound, but the wound is widening. This is what I got with Google:

Le cœur blessé de l'homme cherche à guérir la blessure, mais la blessure s'élargit

It has a nice sound to it for singing, but I imagine it's not right. I see that there's two words for wound, blessure and plaie. Unsure about using l'homme in this instance. What do you think?

Additionally, how would I go about saying, "You see the light, but you're too human to wield its power"?
