Lenovo G50-45 CPU clock speed stuck at 0.96 GHz
I'm using a Lenovo G50-45 running Windows 8.1 with an AMD A8-6410 in it and I just noticed this issue yesterday. I was watching Youtube when I noticed how choppy the video was. I go to check if anything else is consuming bandwidth, then I notice that Rainmeter is reporting 100% CPU usage. I then open up task manager and notice two things:
- CPU clock speed is locked at 0.96-0.98 GHz.
- Usage for each core maxes out at about 35%.
Here's what I've tried:
- Updating the BIOS. Latest version from late 2016 was already installed. (a2cn45ww)
- Checking HWMonitor. CPU package is sitting at the usual 104*F.
- Disabling afterburner. No effect.
- Power plan was already on High Performance.
- Checking AMD crimson (Radeon Settings). Settings are completley the same as before.
- No CPU power settings are available for me to 'tinker' with in the BIOS
- Clearing CMOS and restoring defaults. Same result.
- Trying to install TrottleStop. Wouldn't detect the CPU.
- Forcing CPU clock speed to max in the power settings.
I will try some gaming on it and really push it (Black Mesa, TF2, and Crysis with max settings possible) and see if it clocks up or not. Mabye I'll hit it with FurMark and AIDA64.
