Synergy pick rant
Probably gonna be downvoted for this, but I need to vent about the synergy picks.
I just drafted a Mage deck in arena, and for my synergy picks I chose [[Book Wyrm]] and [[Netherspite Historian]] because I thought that if I could pick up a couple of dragons I could get some serious value out of it. This is after all the reason we get synergy picks, so we have something to build around.
Now, I know that there aren't that many dragons out there, so I knew I would have to take what I got. Well what I got was 0 dragons offered. 0 dragons in the remaining 84 cards I was offered. I get that I got screwed by RNG, but then what is the point of having the synergy picks in the first place when we aren't guaranteed any synergy?
I'd be fine if the synergy picks came at say the 10th or the 15th pick, because then you know what a good portion of your deck looks like, but when it's the first thing offered you have no guarantee whatsoever that you're gonna get offered anything that synergises with the "synergy" pick.
Were my picks bad? Yes. And that's the problem, if your synergies don't add up then you're basically stuck with dead cards.
I much preferred arena before we had the synergy picks, they ruin the start of the draft for me, and I think that's the same for a lot of players.
