CS Bachelors Degree from Community College, am I wasting my time?

I have no experience in computer science, but Ive been interested in tech/computers my entire life. I took a Java class at my community college last quarter and loved it. I was previously going for my bachelors in business at Uni and do not want to go back to Uni simply because I'm 24 now and want to start a career.

Is CS a degree where if I do well enough, even at a CC as opposed to a Uni, I can hang with those who went to 4 year colleges?

I understand theres probably no yes or no answer to that question, but I could use some advice on how to show (in the future) that I'm competent enough to work for companies that may usually hire from Uni.

Also, while I am in school, are there certain jobs I could look for that would improve my resume and give me CS experience? Something very low level as I am just now learning Java.

Thanks guys
