Career Advice Needed

I am seeking some advice ... I am a new SLP (I've had my C's for about two years) who lives in Florida. I recently quit my SNF job to work with a contract company that deals primarily with pediatrics/public schools but for many reasons, it may not work out. So I have been working on a PRN basis at a few SNFs and really enjoy it. I also really enjoy working with pediatrics and I miss that population. It's part of the reason why I quit my full time SNF job.

I also applied for a contract job for a new company that is pediatric based and I have a phone interview tomorrow. I'd love to have more flexibility at work but this is new for me. I'm also scared because I won't have insurance. In short, what are pro/cons of being an independent contractor? Does it pan out financially when you supplement with PRN work?

Any advice is much appreciated!
