Tell me about your life as a computer engineer and your job

I don't know much about C.E. I tried to google it but I want to know it from the actual computer engineers. I was pretty upset that I got into computer engineering, and not software engineering. I thought that software engineering is more valuable, but when I went to my college office, they were shocked to know that I wanted to change my field from Computer to Software since only lucky ones got into the computer engineering field. Now I am confused. What kind of jobs did you guys do and are doing? How was the pay? I'm confused because computer engineering is a bit costly as compared to software engineering. And if I am going to waste money on tuition.. I need to know if I'm ready to do this. So please answer me!
