A Japanese Learning chrome extension that recommends appropriate reading texts for you
Hi, I'm a Ph.D student at Cornell university. Our group is studying Computer Assisted Language Learning. We recently designed a chrome extension for Japanese learning. It aims to recommend reading texts that are appropriate for you. After using it, you will also be given an estimation of how well you understand the articles in NHK Easy, a Japanese news website for language learners.
You can download the extension here in chrome web store.
Note that the extension may take a few seconds to initialize, and you will see the NHK Easy homepage during that time. It will take around 20 minutes to read all the recommended texts. After that, you will be asked to fill in a survey.
We hope you could enjoy it. Thank you!
This extension does not require intermediate level of Japanese. You can use it even if you only understand short Japanese sentences.
Please be patient if the first few recommended texts are too hard/easy for you - our extension will first assess your knowledge.
Our extension has different versions of recommendation algorithms (There are baseline versions that are not good). After you finish, if you like our idea but don't like the recommended texts, just re-install it and try again!
In rare cases, if the extension freezes, please wait for a couple of minutes and try again later - our server is small and cannot respond many users at the same time. We apologize for this inconvenience.
