I was requested to post my (Permaculture) urban edible forest 'works' here for you folk
Hi, so I have worked on self sufficiency projects in the sub arctic, arid, and tropics. I was certified by Geoff Lawton in Permaculture in Australia seven years ago and have been experimenting and adapting ever since.
Below are links to the content-under-construction of the stuff I am, or have been working on. I am much better with data and images than I am with grammar so forgive me. I try to keep half the content as pictures for easy skimming.
There is a lot of diversity thats covered, from reusing nutrient rich grey water, improving runoff coefficient to utilize stormwater, while maybe saving a couple hundred bucks from your utility providers Drainage Fees. Microbial inoculants to get mushrooms and bacteria to grow your plants for you. To making carbon from organic waste for rain water filters and as a soil ammendment.
All of these documents are still and evolving work in progress, sorry.
Link for a typical urban self sufficient retrofit. Concept design. With DIY edible food forest info. 12 or so pages, 50 percent pics.
Link the one year 2016 <$1,000 project in Mexico to turn a 90 square meter property into the most biodiverse, water self sufficient home in the region. The heaviest of storms produce zero erosion or flooding damage to city infrastructure, it can harvest the neighbourhoods damaging street stormwater, filter it and redistribute it for irrigation and emergency potable water through living filter systems. Everything was salvaged, recycled, from seed, dumpster dived, you name it. We also disconnected all sewage and greywater lines. Switched to a compost toilet, and filtered and pumped all the grey water into plant production. 15 or so pages, 60 percent pics.
Link this summarizes how improving the water runoff coefficient will create conditions for crystal clear lakes, rivers and oceans, while. Ending drought, floods, (most) landslides, famine, dying reefs, aquatic dead zones, species extinction, erosion and more. I have not spent the time to do the images yet. I would bet my life that all planets with civilizations with atmosphere and raín will use this methid of terraforming. If your have an urban lot or a farm, this is essential to fertility efficiency. 7pg wall of text, 4 pictures. important
link before and after image album. Cold climate half-edible forest garden. This client had no interest in growing food, but I was able to still put in some edibles. Please note the symbiotic mushrooms. And that this was built from all recycled and organic waste. 50 images with brief descriptions.
Link to a storm pond upgrade concept. Storm ponds are a standard in new developements to mitigate flooding. Unfortunately they are poorly managed and designed, and end up being stagnant mosquito breeding ground. This was meant to show my municipality how to turn a problem into a solution, producing Dragonflys and more.
Link (far from complete, but schools are good locations for self sufficiency) for my regions (or any) schoolboard. Articulating the waste of space, and how the schools can create attractive, productive spaces in areas that are not used.
A one minute video showing how my spiderbros have recognition with me, he jumped in for a ride twice in a row, to bring him to the females nest. I am posting this because it is relevant to all critters, including Yellow Jacket Wasp. Humm, sing, or ohm to your critters, many of them will remember you by your vibration.
Yellow Jacket Wasps and how to get them to do pest control for you. This has got the content but I need to organise the paragraphs still, some cool pics.
Here is a (old school) 50 hour Permaculture Design course.
I hope you enjoy and find it useful, AMA.
