Fiance and I cant play together on Xbox One

We both bought a copy of the game, and when I am playing on the server and she tries to join she is stuck at the "Preparing Character" screen. The screen will flash like its done but then it goes back to that screen and you can hear two versions of the music playing on top of each other. Once I sign out, then she can get on and vice versa. Anyone else in the same household having this issue?
