Starting to Enter a Transition Period and Feeling a Bit Lost
My wife and I have always wanted to be CF and have been very vocal about it to others (family and friends) for quite awhile. We're in our early 30's.
We also have a very close group of about 15-20 friends that we've known for most of our lives. It's really something cool and special. Over the last two years or so more and more of them have been having children. It's gotten to the point now where we're the only married couple who don't have kids. The only remaining people are single, but most of them do want kids in the immediate future (or as soon as they're married).
We've known this moment has been coming, but it's caused a bit of unexpected anxiety for us. Our friends with children haven't abandoned us, but we definitely see them and hang out with them less - I expect this to even become ever more infrequent in the future once their children move out of the infant stage. I understand this though and I don't have any negative feelings towards them. I've known for quite awhile that our relationship would change, but I still can't stop myself from feeling a bit helpless about the whole thing.
We kind of feel like we're going to be forgotten about and I think we're both struggling with where to go from here. I know this means we're probably entering our own new phase of life (which usually comes with some anxiety). The idea of "fun" for us has involved being with friends for pretty much our entire lives. I think we're just feeling a bit lost.
Is anyone else here going through something like this currently and/or made it through this phase before? Any tips, advice, etc?
