Some critical thought about the DLC weapon supply drop system
Dear community,
I cannot believe how many hypocrites are here. BO3 is now live for almost 2 years and they still continue to add additional DLC weapons. One would say that they want to keep the game fresh and keep the community playing the game, which I do believe it’s true. BUT! We saw from various posts how much they earn with the supply drop system. Season pass is nothing compared to the supply drop weapons in terms of revenue. This brings me to my first point; if you scroll through reddit you will see that people absolutely despise the system. It’s unfair and luck based but at the same time more or less the same people buy additional COD points to get those weapons. I am sure that some got lucky, but most of those who got the guns had to spent additional money and those same people fuel the system. I think we would get shocking numbers if people would honestly tell how much they paid for COD points.
I get NO excitement when new weapons are added, because I gave up on getting them. The last triple play was again a disappointment (my mistake to think that the odds are in my favor). There are weapons that are around 1,5 years out and most of us do not have and probably never will unless we will spend money. It is extremely frustrating and what is even worse, this system is not changing. It works way too good for them. We had now two triple plays in a short time span but the grind is so painful for solo players and the frustrations are really bad when people get a weapon they will never use. I like Ace’s idea of adding tokens or unlock keys which would allow you to get the weapon you want, but I also doubt we will see that.
My second rant is that those new weapons are destroying the game. Does any1 remember the lag we had for several months when they added weapons? That was supper annoying but this is not the worst part (as they kinda fixed it in several months). There are now many unique weapons that changed how some game modes are now being played. Safeguard and SnD are by far most noticeable. Die sector and l4 siege give you enormous advantage in Safeguard. I would even argue that they destroyed the game mode. Knife skins made SnD a joke. Whenever I see a knife player, I would like to leave the game. NX shadowclaw is also hell of annoying to play against and it sucks the fun out of the game. Die sector clears hallways around bombs and gives so much map control to the team that has it.
My second part of the second rant is that I do not understand why Treyarch started to add really strong weapons. I was lucky enough to get the m16 and it is easily one of the top 3 AR’s in the game. I would say it is way too strong. KVK is strong as hell as well and I think the XMC is quite strong too. They even buffed the KVK!! I do not understand that since Treyarch was constantly balancing guns and those DLC guns are getting better and better. It started with the peacekeeper, it has an amazing one shot range in hardcore and those who have it, are in a clear advantage. And now those weapons are completely changing the gameplay and putting people who do not have them in a disadvantage. This is unacceptable and it is sad that probably nothing is going to be done about it.
I wanted to share my thoughts with you. We are still coming back to this subreddit, because we still enjoy the game. The game is not perfect, but it is close to amazing. It is by far my most played COD and I really hate in which direction it all went. I hope that some of you will think about it and realize that COD is more and more focusing on micro transactions. I think many of you saw the news about social score and how to increase it with supply drop opening. Now this is almost a deal breaker for me….
tl;dr: being critical of the community and its spending on COD points while complaining about the unfair Supply drop system we have. Also, the new guns are destroying the game balance.
