A lot of the time, mostly on YouTube, there's a lot of gatekeeping on music; specifically on Nirvana. I feel like a lot of people, for some reason, see Nirvana as some kind of underground, special band. There's always "ooh I bet the people wearing nirvana shirts only know SLTS" or "Nirvana isn't a clothing line!1!1!1!1" etc.

Nirvana isn't underground; they've had numerous hit songs and are still charting on music streaming sites like Spotify. People know Nirvana, it's not so unbelievable that people listen to Nirvana. It's not really on this subreddit, you guys are awesome, but on YouTube, the comments are always something really fucking douchey.

And there's the people that say "only fake fans like SLTS/CAYA/HSB" and "you're not a real fan unless you've heard this acoustic demo from Kurts childhood bathroom recorded in 1988!!!!"

There's a reason songs become hits; people like them. I mean, seriously, it's not a huge deal to like a hit song by a band. I love nirvana and know most of their material yet I still enjoy every hit song of theirs.

I just am so annoyed reading the gatekeeping shit on nirvana videos I guess
