Where can a felon start a real career? (Warning, long post)
This is long, so I'll bold the most relevant sections, Italics for "about me" stuff to match me to something, rest is fluff I guess
I'm 27 years old. High School Diploma, no college diploma though. I have a felony on my record. Live in Seattle, WA Nothing related to theft, violence, or drugs, but I'd prefer not to air it out here. I have been working as a car salesman for a year or so now. Decent success, but not enough to make me want to stay. I'm sick of it. I have a pretty good understanding of technology, and COULD work in a tech support role if I only had a degree... I am good with people and in sales roles, but I have no specialized knowledge. I'm really scared of going back to school and coming out with 50k plus debt and no prospects due to felony. I've been turned down before to jobs I was interested in.
Every personality test I take says I'd be good in a leadership role. I'm an ENTP on the Meyer's Briggs. I'm pretty clever. I am great at thinking on my feet and I put abstract ideas together quickly. I can reduce complex problems or concepts into easy-to-digest format for people to understand. I believe I have a lot of potential and I know I'll bust my ass to work when given a shot at something. I can take quite a beating emotionally as well. I do it everyday in car sales.
I just want something that gives me a shot to excel and one day get an executive role or make life-changing money. I'm willing to do whatever it takes, but in my current job, it takes exponentially more effort to produce less and less results. The BEST salespeople here (Subaru) make just over 100k. The managers work insane hours and don't make too much more. Under 200k for sure. I don't want their job. I will work 70hrs a week if I love what I'm doing, but living in the Seattle area means I need to make 6 figures to have a decent living and retirement. I intend to move away after I make bank and just live overseas someplace cheap. I just need a big win...
I just feel lost and have had a few really disappointing results lately. I'm hoping someone has insight that puts me on a path in a direction I can put my all into.
