[TOMT] A short story about shifting climate after the land bridge between north and south america was destroyed. read maybe ten years ago, perhaps as part of an anthology, or online.
A short story about an oceanographer (or cartographer) who was mapping new ocean currents after some event ( earthquake, terrorist plot ect.) destroyed the isthmus dividing North and South America. I remember it going in to detail about the cooling of much of Europe's farmland, and otherwise drastically shifting climate as well as political power. Read possibly as part of an anthology, or perhaps online?
