A bad trip with edibles (my experience).

Hey everyone! Let me start this off by saying I am not new to edibles, I have been making my own for a little over a year now and it's my only means of using cannabis, so I should know better. You may remember me from a recent post showing some chocolates I made. Well, they must have had some high variance, because I went on a JOURNEY last night after having just 1 piece.

I had started out small, trying only about 1/6 to start. The effects were pretty mild so I moved up to 1/4, then 1/2, then 3/4 (over the course of several nights)...after all that I had never gotten anything more than mild effects so I decided a whole one would be fine. Spoiler alert, it was not fine.

It may have been the avocados I had beforehand that did me in, but after about an hour I was about an 8-10, feeling pretty pleasant but loopy and not really wishing to go any further than that. After about another hour and a half I feel the anxiety ramping up and I have been here before. It sucks but I know it will pass so I just kind of try to do the stuff that calms me down...pet my dog, take some deep breaths, etc...

But it keeps getting worse. At some point things just get WEIRD and I start feeling like I am hanging onto my consciousness by a thread. I felt like my soul was being sucked out of my body and if I didn't hold on for dear life I might actually lose my grip on reality. Even at this stage I knew I just needed to hold out...it'll pass...right?

My husband (sober, thankfully) told me to try to walk around, I didn't feel like I could but I did. I felt so dizzy, and I still felt like I was barely in my body and walking could not have felt more wobbly and weird. I'm still trying to keep my focus on anything but how I feel. We go outside and I sit down while he plays with the dog. I just try to stay on Earth, I feel like I'm floating into space.

The next two hours were the worst of it. I felt like I was descending into madness and flying into space at the same time. I lie on the ground and wish it would just pass already. I know I'm in my house but everything looks foreign and scary. Reality is a thin veil and I'm just trying to remind myself I'm there but it felt so real. My husband tries to keep me grounded but I'm really fighting, I had to actively try to stay in the present with all my effort. It got so much worse before it got better, it was a dark journey and I was so scared that I wouldn't come out the same as I had been before. I really thought I was dying. I thought my sanity was breaking.

Finally, mercifully it started to ease up around 11:30pm (I took the edible around 7pm I think, maybe 6:30). I played some Hearthstone and watched Bob Ross to calm down. I was able to drink some water (my sense of taste and smell was so powerful it was making me nauseous the whole time + cottonmouth). I was still pretty fucked up but finally was able to relax enough to lie down and go to sleep around 3am.

The next day, I'm still high. Not terribly so, but I slept through my alarm and had to make an excuse for why I didn't have an appetite when my dad picked me up for lunch. My trip still scares me, but I'm mostly just glad it's over.

Anyways! I totally don't mean to scare anyone, and while I'll probably take a break from cannabis for a while I'm sure I'm not done with it. I mainly wanted to share this because I thought it was interesting and crazy, and also as a PSA to be careful with edibles, especially when they're homemade and potency might vary a bit! I can also say that even the scariest trip will eventually end, as much as it sucked while it was at it's most intense it finally did blow over and I feel normal again, so try to tell yourself that if you ever overdo it a bit!

Thanks for reading and have a great day! :)

TL;DR: Yesterday I went to space with edibles, it was a crazy trip but I made it back! I seriously think on a scale of 1-10 I went to like a 2000. Tripped. Balls. Literally never even been 1/10th as high as I was yesterday. T_T
