Fix frozen bananas

So need some help please and thanks. I froze some bananas that were going soft to use in smoothies, but I didn't realize that you needed to peel the bananas before you put them in the freezer. Can I unthaw them in the fridge then use them? Or does anyone know how to take the frozen peel off?
