[SIB] Sid Meier's Covert Action?

I've been on something of an espionage kick these days, binging Archer, having just finished The Night Manager miniseries, and now working on other more sophisticated spy fic stories like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the Worricker Trilogy, and the Jack Ryan films (okay, maybe Tom Clancy isn't super sophisticated but still more heady than James Bond).

I've been looking around trying to find a good spying and espionage game. And I look for something that goes beyond merely sneaking around enemies like in splinter cell (though I plan to revisit those games). Looking for something that's more multi-faceted, that requires things like surveillance, document analysis, hacking, interrogations, lying and deception, as well as infrequent bursts of stealth and action. And hopefully complex plotlines as well...

I'm gonna be digging back into Alpha Protocol but Covert Action has popped up a few times in questions about spy games. So I'm looking for some thoughts and feedback from those who have played the game. I tend to have more modern sensibilities when it comes to gaming, though I'm not completely averse to more retro types of games but I'm wondering if anyone can say whether the game has aged well. So long as the game still has compelling systems, graphics are of secondary concern.

Thanks in advance!
