Why is my PS4 internet connection so crap?

I get between 40 - 70 mbps on my macbook depending on the time and how many people are in my house but my ps4 slim in the same room only gets 1 - 10 mbps and maybe a little bit higher on a good day. This makes playing online games unplayable at times, why is it so bad for me?
