Users of microtransactions, care to share your experience of paying for them and why?

(Discussion)

So this is a genuine and honest reach out to the gaming community. Please show each other respect and common decency. This is not a post for us to vilify, condemn, or judge anybody else actions.

As microtransactions are being seen and utilised more and more in the AAA gaming space (see: Dead Space 3, Deus Ex 2, LOTR: shadow of war) I would love to talk and hear from those of you have paid for microtransactions in any sorts of games, not necessarily videogames, and why?

No need to share any amounts of money you've spent if you aren't comfortable doing so. Alternatively you're welcome to PM a reply to this thread if it's suits you better.

Just let us know what you played, why you felt the transaction was worth it and if it's something you're more willing to do because you have the income to spend, or if you prefer to get to the best bits quicker - that sort of thing.

TL;DR: Real life "whales" and users of microtransactions, care to share your experience of paying for them and why? Very curious to learn more about these habits.
