The Escalade ...

... is Elliot's.

Not sure how it all fits together, but I'm calling it now. That's his Escalade.

Wait, what?

This is certainly a new and startling idea...please elaborate! You can't leave us with this much of a teaser post when we're already suffering from severe MRS3 teaser-itis, can you aveyard? I want to know....I want to know....I want to know! :-)

MaryInMarylandFlipper•

OK aveyard, really hoping you chime in here soon, because your Escalade topic rattled another memory in my head related to these expensive SUVs....

So Angela was taken from the NY subway to the home where WR was by van.

It appears that she was returned to her NY apt in...DUN DUN DUN...a BLACK ESCALADE! Who was driving? Who owned the car? Who else was in the car? Was it one of Tyrell's cars?

Come on, you know you want to respond, right? ;-) What were you thinking about the Escalades, and what do you think about the one Angela was riding home from the WR visit in?

2
kingofthewildfront•

After meeting WR, Angela was in a Chevrolet Suburban like the FBI use.

3
MaryInMarylandFlipper•

Really? Wow, good catch and thanks for the pic!

Now who was driving that Suburban....that creepy lady from the NRC? Santiago? Leon? Whiterose's assistant? Hmmmmm.....

Cheers! :-)

kiitsmottoAngela•

ok, I have always wondered who drove Angela from WR to her lawyer lady (in that pic)... I'm really not sure the WR thing "really happened", physically...ya know? But, anyway, she ends up getting driven to her lawyers in the black SUV, driven by somebody ... and when I think about "drivers" or "chauffeurs", guess who comes to mind first? Mr Sutherland, (Mr X ) I don't know how, why or whatever, but he was/is my first guess. Or maybe the FBI guy she "dated".... OR.... drumroll please.....maybe that old dude from the bar DUCKI!

I have no clue...just guesses!!! Cant wait !!! : ))

2
MaryInMarylandFlipper•

Maybe. I thought Sutherland was apparently with Elliot for part of that time, then driving Joanna to verbally eviscerate Scott Knowles. But yes, we need to know who drove Angela from WR to Nayar's house!

2
aveyardOP•

Hey Mary, just real quick, how familiar are you with the newer Escalade?

2
MaryInMarylandFlipper•

Not at all...I'm a compact, fuel-efficient, bare bones sedan gal myself. :-)

2
aveyardOP•

Perfect answer! And I'm guessing you probably drive your car daily?

2
MaryInMarylandFlipper•

Mostly, though I telecommute often. My area has either the #1 or #2 worst traffic in the USA (we trade off with Los Angeles every year or so) so if I can get away with not driving, I take advantage of that. :-)

2
aveyardOP•

I missed the mark on the infotainment system. The 2015 model has a proximity sensor so if you have the keys/fob on your person then the screen turns on when your hand gets close to the screen. I don't think this impacts my conviction though, with one of the main ideas being that Elliot shouldn't maneuver so effortlessly and should be displaying everything other than comfort, composure and ease.

It's the Wellick's. Looks to me like it's near ecorp after the ecorp attack that frames Elliot. It has Elliots DNA all over it.

I love RemindMe bot! I'm not saying you're wrong for the record. You could be right. "I know only that I know nothing".

3
aveyardOP•

Don't agree with me, that's no fun.

Huh...true....

YOU'RE WRONG AVEYARD!

Is that better?

2
MaryInMarylandFlipper•

I'm with you AJW, I want to know more and am hoping that aveyard will share the Escalade thoughts!

2
aveyardOP•

I've been watching S1E10 over and over these past two weeks, focusing on two scenes: Joanna versus Elliot outside their little Chelsea townhome, and Elliot returning to the Escalade in the parking lot.

It's barely baked, and I'm usually wrong about most things that my intuition tells me, so I'm going to spare you and leave it open.

:)

MaryInMarylandFlipper•

I can't believe you're going to leave us hanging like that...such a tease!

You should not undermine your own thoughts and intuition, you've had a lot of really good thoughts/posts that I and several other folks on here have been interested to read, so please do elaborate when you feel so inclined. You could be catching something that other folks have missed, and isn't that the beauty of this sub? To post and exchange ideas about this show we all adore?

Clearly Elliot has the keys to the Escalade in S1E10 because he's not breaking into it, and we don't know what assets he actually owns, so you never know. I think there are 2 vehicles on the FBI board with the Wellicks, have to go back and check, but for all we know Elliot's "men in black" that follow him and have black sedans/SUVs could have been hired BY ELLIOT to keep him protected and on-track, and that we don't have that info yet, so who knows? Pretty much all ideas/theories are equal at this point until we have more info, so please spin the wheel (get it - wheel - tire - vehicle - Escalade - ha ha ;-) ) when you'r ready. I look forward to reading your idea. :-)

YO! Great thoughts about the "men in black". Never thought of that. Makes so much sense!

3
MaryInMarylandFlipper•

Well thanks! I'm not sure if this idea holds any water yet, but all credit to u/aveyard for staring this discussion and the resulting ponderings. :-)

3
Bknapple•

Love that the men in black could just be hired by Elliot to watch his back without Elliot in the show knowing it. Very esmail

3
MaryInMarylandFlipper•

Maybe, we will see eventually, right? :-)

Bknapple•

I think there are a few items in season one that wont get an explanation until the very last season. to me these items include: Johanna and elliots relationship

The blank disc containing only pictures of Edward

White Rose's reveal of what hacking time actually means

Who the monster is ( I mean, its Elliot, right?)

The true story behind his fall

the true fist encounter between mr robot and tyrell

Our first glimpse inside the Washington township Plant

2
aveyardOP•

I think you're right, actually, about the men in black. I think they are there for him and by his direction.

2
kiitsmottoAngela•

for all we know Elliot's "men in black" that follow him and have black sedans/SUVs could have been hired BY ELLIOT to keep him protected and on-track

I had this same thought while rewatching the first two episodes the other night! It was something about the men in black calling him "Sir". I also had a glass of wine before watching, so I am glad to hear someone else had this thought! LOL : )) It would actually make sense, if Elliot "prime" had all this so planned out.

kinda brings to mind (for me)Howard Hughes, who had people surrounding him, who knew of all his "weirdness", and went along with whatever, because the were paid to do so.

2
MaryInMarylandFlipper•

That's pretty wild, and a really interesting idea about Howard Hughes! That sounds like a great comparison - you should post that and expand upon it. :-)

I didn't have that thought at all until the other day when I was trying to convince aveyard to post the rest of the Escalade thoughts - and AV's thoughts were awesome and totally worth the wait, by the way - but then I remembered that Angela was apparently "driven home" from WR's place in a black escalade, and it just spiraled from there as a spitballing question. Funny, because apparently a lot of other folks were thinking that around the same time or had those thoughts earlier, including you, so wild stuff! I don't know if there were any earlier threads discussing it because that search returns a ridiculous amount of results, but I hadn't recalled reading them, and hope people discuss more of these thoughts.

Isn't it funny how those guys NEVER TOUCH Elliot, but rather prod him verbally over and over, maybe because they know he doesn't like to be touched? And yes indeedy, they do call him "Sir" quite a bit.

In that conversation where Sutherland and the other guys are dropping Elliot at home, and Sutherland tells Elliot to watch JFK, he tells Elliot the oddest thing...he suggests that Elliot PAY to watch the movie this time. What for? Did someone from the FBI actually catch a young Elliot for pirating a movie and made good on the FBI warning that precedes all videotaped content? There was a prominently-displayed FBI warning at the beginning of that Bourgeois movie that Elliot and Darlene lifted...does Sutherland know something about that?

Just more questions, no more answers, and 45 days more until we get any new info!!!

I was on this sub when it was airing live, then took a hiatus, so I have missed a lot of really good posts... but i do remember at the time noticing that Angela shows up at her lawyers house, after wh1ter0se visit, in that car, and she wasn't the one driving. First thought I originally had was Wellick car... seems like, iirc, someone noticed something different about this car Angela was in & the wellick car.... But, if this car is Elliott's... well, that could put a whole new spin on everything! ;)

Speaking of Mr X... I always have wondered where he was that night. Because he is/ was Tyrell's driver. How did Tyrell get to Elliott's apt? How did they both get to coney island? Did Tyrell drive? Did Elliot drive? I dont see Tyrell taking the subway! : )

Hey aveyard! So, I rewatched this episode to check out his actions in the car, and yes, he does seem to be working from his subconcious while in it, as his focused mind seems to be only on Tyrell. And the seat position is perfectly set up for him, like you said. You make a great point about his "comfort level".

Also, this whole episode is cram packed with lots of mystifying things.. I definitely understand what you mean about needing to focus on this episode!

Because of your post which led me to rewatch this episode, I found something very peculiar, that I havent seen mentioned before.

When Elliot goes to ECorp 23rd floor to look for Tyrell, his voiceover says this:

Why did Tyrell let this happen? He was with me. I told him the whole plan. He was gonna stop it.

What??! Doesnt that sound like an almost "role reversal" of what happened in the warehouse scene? Did you notice this? Are you seeing this too?

:))

2
aveyardOP•

Yea the role reversal that you mention should be explored I think. It seemed like Tyrell was pretty excited about the whole thing, Elliot was the one who seemed to regret it.
