Why are there home and away teams for each matchup in fantasy? Has anyone ever used this feature?
Was there ever a use for such a feature at all? ESPN even has splits for home/away records... who cares?

Meh, I'd rather more possible options than less.
They have it just for context purposes. They also have options that no one really uses which allows you to give points to home teams and for tie breakers.
give points to home teams and for tie breakers.
either of these would drive me bonkers.

I personally haven't but I could have sworn someone on here last year was talking about how their league gave 1 extra point to the home team and in some instances that single point did decide the matchup for the week.
I feel the same about this as I do Divisions. In real life NFL football and fantasy football, I think they are dumb.
It can be used for home field advantage points in the playoffs. That seems to be the only purpose that actually makes sense.
While you can give points to the home team, I think mostly it's just there to more simulate actual football. We are playing a big fantasy in which we are the coach or GM of a team and getting the players we want then playing those teams against our friends who are also coaches and GMs. It's just part of the "fantasy". Most people completely ignore it, I'm sure, but I imagine it makes for some spicy trash talk in some leagues.
I've heard of a league that gave the "Home" team 5 points before the week even started as an advantage. The higher seed in the playoffs was home and gave you the advantage. I think it's pretty dumb but they loved it
They've had it for a couple years. Since I started, at least.
My teammates and I use it to brag about something else, because everything is as reason to brag in our league.
One of my leagues uses it in PPR playoffs. 5 points to home field. I like it for the most part. Rewards doing well all season.
I won a championship game on home field advantage points. Lol at that league.
I think they even have a setting to give points for "home-field advantage," which is the dumbest thing ever for fantasy football.
I can see an argument for it in the playoffs, but it would be pretty dumb for the regular season.
I give the home playoff team +.01. So if there is a tie higher seed (home team) wins
