Is there a conservative double standard?

As I pay attention to redditors, the news and things, I feel like I'm beginning to notice a pattern. Whenever a celebrity or someone says something conservative in public, the response is usually "so-and-so schools liberals with this epic tweet". When its something liberal the response is "nobody wants to be lectured to, actors should stick to acting and keep their opinions to themselves." When a company advocates something conservative it gets lauded, but when a Target or Starbucks advocates a liberal idea, it's "nobody wants to hear it, companies should stick to making money." Does there seem to be any element of truth to this or am I just seeing trends that aren't there?
