So overheard a Sudanese colleague yesterday say how "nardole is a great girl who works really well as a translator" and this started a conversation. Apparently nardole or what sounds a lot like nardole is a common girl's name in the Nuer tribe

History homework or browse Reddit for Doctor Who posts... Decisions, decisions...

I'm actually going to be sociable today. Not sure how that'll go, might have forgotten what I'm doing.

Seems RTD was on fine form last night, saying the government is warding off the BBC with one hand and wanking off Murdoch with the other.

(He also agrees with me that Broken is the best thing seen on TV this year)

The Big Finish story "Valhalla" must have inspired Series 8. Even had Michelle Gomez

How ?

Are there any Doctor Who fan-made audios that are worth listening to? I've gone through most of the recommended Big Finish audios and short trips, as well as the BBV audios and Bafflegab Productions.

Also, I'm surprised there aren't fan-read audiobooks of the novels. It seems like the sort of thing that would exist, because you could get different people to read each chapter, and the novels are available for free now, but I can't find any.

The novels are available for free? Where?

FrayedHats•

Well, BBC had the Virgin New Adventures as free ebooks on their website at http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/ebooks

You may have to plunk that URL into the Wayback Machine. Different novels seemed to have been available during different months.

Surely you haven't listened to every single Big Finsh audio story.

Well, no, but it's nice to hear something different. As much as I love Big Finish, BBV's "Left Hand of Darkness" and "Punchline" for example are as good as many of Big Finish's stories. There's a reason there are "best of" lists, and not every single Big Finish story is the best.
