Cheapest, tastiest coffee shop coffee?

I normally drink coffee from a French press at home with creme and sugar. When I would get coffee out, I stuck with lattes or macchiatos because I'm a schmuck and I need my coffee milky and sweet.

Every week I meet with a group of fellow runners, we run, and after, get coffee at the coffee shop.

I'm trying to cut back on spending right now, and the coffee shop seems like an obvious place because I'm spending $5/ week on a coffee. I don't want to completely skip out because I did enjoy spending time sipping coffee with friends. What are some tasty, cheaper alternatives I could try? I tried a cappuccino last week, but IMO it just tasted like hot milk and wasn't sweet. They have several types of drip coffee, but only have half&half and sugar packets. When I order coffee like that at places like IHOP, I always struggle to make it bearable.
